About Me

Hi. My name is Lisa Paul and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Approved Clinical Supervisor in Louisiana. I have 17 years of experience in grief/bereavement counseling, hospice, caregiver issues, end of life care and life transitions. I am also experienced in counseling for depression, anxiety, self-esteem, communication problems, relationship issues, and goal setting.

I was baptized at the age of 13 and have always considered myself a Christian. I have had struggles, questions, and doubts along my journey and I thank God for them today. They have shaped me into the person I am and have driven me to seek knowledge and a deeper relationship with Christ. Many counselors do not incorporate their faith into their practice. I feel God sends people and opportunities into our lives for a reason. Perhaps that is why you are reading my bio right now.

My counseling style is warm, welcoming, interactive and compassionate. I often utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to assist clients with identifying and changing negative and irrational thought patterns, in turn changing emotions and behaviors. In my experience, this treatment modality is very effective at being client-centered, addressing thoughts, behavior, and emotions, and helping clients achieve their personal and relationship goals. I have found through personal readings and professional research, this approach is relevant to and backed by Scripture. I will tailor my counseling approach as we dialogue and develop a treatment plan that will fit your unique individual needs.

I reserve the right to deny acceptance as a client if I do not feel I can provide you with the best possible services. In these cases, you will be matched with a different counselor. I also reserve the right to suggest in-office counseling in your area if, in my clinical judgment, I do not feel you will benefit from online therapy. I will always assist you to the best of my ability but will suggest another counselor or type of session (in office for example) if we are not making progress in reaching your goals. Therapy is a team effort. I will treat you with respect and provide you with support and therapeutic advice, but ultimately the work of change is up to you.

I will do my absolute best to work with you and your schedule. I offer live chat, messaging services, phone and/or video sessions. Sessions are usually once per week for about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your needs. If you message me after normal business hours during the week, I will answer the next day. If you message on the weekends, I will answer the following business day. If you have an urgent message, please mark it as "urgent" so I will be aware. If you are feeling suicidal, please call 911 or visit your nearest emergency room.

Our walk with God is a journey that only ends when we are with Him in Eternity. If you are ready to take the difficult next step and seek counseling, I will be happy to assist you on your journey!

Dr. Lisa Paul takes time to listen, while I try to unload my deep long held issues. Without judgement she assesses my thoughts and gives me different ways to process or consider healthy solutions for me to deal with the issues.

Lisa made me comfortable from the beginning once I was assigned to her. She has been great at keeping in touch and sincere when having to reschedule. I feel I will move forward and find the light at the end of the tunnel with Lisa's help.

Immediately I felt at ease with Lisa and able to be open and transparent with her. This being my first experience with counceling, and I was apprehensive most about finding a good fit. Lisa was that and more...so kind. It's very evident it is her ministry to help people in this way.

It is great working with Lisa! She's very relatable and makes you feel comfortable. She helped me set realistic goals and was very supportive. She is an experienced counselor who was able to suggest tools and techniques to meet my personal needs.
