About Me

Hi! My name is Liz and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas. I have worked in the counseling field for over 6 years in a variety of settings and with a diverse range of clients. I earned my Masters degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University and special training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have helped clients who struggle with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, loss and grief, major life changes and adjustments, and parenting. I am also a life-long Christian, and my faith is a huge part of what brought me to my career field.

Counseling gives you the opportunity to make time for self-exploration. As your counselor, it is my job to give you an accepting, affirming, and empathetic environment where you can learn more about yourself, identify things about your life that you like, and process how to change what is not going well for you. I find it a privilege to work with my clients and be part of their journey towards becoming a version of themselves of which they are proud. Counseling is a time to reconnect with yourself and your spiritual life. I have seen my clients challenge themselves, come closer to God, and make revelations that were possible within the safe space of counseling. You are beginning your first steps of that process by looking for a Christian counselor, and for that I want to encourage you!

My approach to therapy is client centered: I believe the client is an expert on their own life and I'm here to help you accomplish the goals you make for yourself. Through a strengths-based and solutions-focused lens, I draw on multiple treatment modalities to guide clients in identifying strengths and learning about their emotions. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I assist clients in understanding how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected and driven. This model can also be used with a trauma lens (Trauma-Focused CBT) to understand how crises and tragedies in our life have affected our ability to cope. We will incorporate scripture and prayer into our counseling so that you feel the work we do also progresses your individual relationship with God.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy being in my backyard with my family and two cats. I love to read, visit new places, sing in my church choir and watch too much TV. I look forward to meeting you!

I truly like talking to Liz. It’s nice to have an objective point of view on my life concerns. She gives me thinking points which really help me analyze my situation and come up with solutions for issues I’m having. Liz is a quick thinker and has great advice!
