About me

Clients tell me I am nonjudgmental, respectful, and a good listener. Personally, I find that the work I am privileged to do is deeply satisfying. I meet people where they are, serve them with grace and dignity, and assist them with their healing.
After nearly 40 years in the medical and mental health world I have heard many life stories, and have been deeply touched by the struggles of my fellow sojourners on this earth. People are capable of great courage in spite of their personal fears. There are times I want to cheer as my clients overcome adversity. I never underestimate the capacity people have to love, and the depth of their need to be loved.
Life is difficult. Life is fragile. And, life is worth the fight. I am most impressed by authenticity. People who dare to be real are people who have my respect. I am educated but also grounded as a person of faith. I stand firm in the belief that each person has the capacity to be their better self. I believe that people genuinely love their neighbors and stand ready with random acts of kindness and selflessness.
I am trained as a Systems Therapist and therefore, see people in the context of their nuclear family, their extended family, and their social network. No one is an island. Community is always important, but especially so during times of crisis.
I also apply the "Life Model" which has 5 presuppositions. 1.) Everyone needs a place to belong. 2.) Everyone needs to both receive and give life. 3.) Everyone has the capacity to recover from malfunction or dysfunction. 4.) Growth and maturation are necessary and possible. 5.) Everyone must stay true to their identity.
I am healthy and active, originally trained as a Music Therapist and experienced as a parent and professional. I have enjoyed several decades of being married to the same man, and I love sharing life with him. Because of his support and service I have an enlarged capacity to be supportive and provide service to hearts that are hurting.
If given the chance to be a part in your struggle for solutions, I will bring the best of myself to help you find the best in yourself.

Marie is a jewel! I'm blessed to have found her. She's knowledgeable, patient, kind, understanding and we relate. I needed someone, that I could speak to, and hear faith-based counsel - Marie was all that and more! She's also insightful about life topics, that I needed her advice on and she has helped me in more ways than I can count. She gave me new language, to replace the old ways I used to think about myself, and for that I'll be forever grateful!
