Mary Miller

(MSW, LCSW)

About Me

I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for 16 years working with individuals, couples, families and adolescents. I began my career working with high school students in a church setting which I enjoyed, but realized that young people needed so much more for their social and emotional well-being than I knew at that time. During the years, I discovered the power of family dynamics in the mental health of children and adults. This led me to pursue my Master's in Social Work from Aurora University in Illinois and become licensed in Illinois and recently in Montana. I continued to work on staff at a church while maintaining a private practice and because of this faith issues are easy to bring into the therapy room.
I have experience with people who have depression, anxiety, PTSD and grief issues. I have also done therapy with survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and have experienced other trauma in their lives. I have a therapy style that draws on several therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Based Therapies. I believe that holistic approaches that acknowledge the mind, body and spirit connection can be very effective with people who are dealing with today's fast paced lives that often lead to stress related problems.
Finding balance as we go through life transitions can come by attending to our mental and physical health on a daily basis. I enjoy working with people who are actively engaged in their own health and well-being and have been told that I connect well with people of all ages. I am comfortable bringing God and faith into therapy as client's choose, especially when it is an important aspect of their lives. I am eager to help you work towards health and balance in your life!

Mary is very professional, understanding and respectful. She is very calm, caring, and approachable. She gives me the info/tools I need that is appropriate. I like that I can read these very quickly and have easy access from my profile . I appreciate that she takes time to explain concepts to help me understand myself without suggesting a book right off the bat. I don't like reading long books if I can find a short but concise way to still get what I need to know. She takes care to make sure I understand things properly. She follows up with concerns and questions. She is very engaging and remembers what I've shared without having me repeat myself too much.

Mary is wonderful. She has been a really helpful support system and voice of reason for me when I needed it most. I always leave our sessions feeling relieved, listened to and empowered with a game plan to tackle whatever it is that I might be dealing with that week.
