About Me

Hello. I graduated from East Carolina University with a Master’s of Science in Counselor Education in 2013. I completed my undergraduate studies in Family and Community Services, with a split concentration in psychology and special education. I also have an Autism add-on certificate. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor and member of the NBCC. I have resided in North Carolina all my life and enjoy the beaches, mountains, and in between. I have been working in mental health since 2003 in a variety of settings, including mental health agencies, in-home services, school settings, private practice, and residential and group homes. I am passionate about families and believe that healing can take place in any relationship when both parties are invested. I enjoy helping couples plan for their futures together and also in gaining both restoration and hope in relationships that have faced challenges. Even though I did not graduate as a Christian Counselor or attend Bible College, I do provide Biblical-based counseling for couples and families.
As a professional counselor, I prefer to provide a trauma-informed eclectic and integrated approach to counseling services based on the needs of the individual. The theoretic background that I most often utilize is an Integrated Approach of Solution-Focused Therapy with an accommodative integration of additional theories, such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Reality Therapy. I like to assign out-of-therapy “homework” and encourage one to monitor progress towards goals. In therapy, I like to work with couples on identifying their love languages, learning how to communicate, identifying generational patterns and life scripts or working models, and help them identify how to resolve conflict in helpful ways. I can pray with couples and provide scripture when they desire this.

Megan is amazing! She is very attentive and understanding. She really helps me to break things down and understand the deeper meaning. She also uses great worksheets, techniques, etc. I highly recommend her!!
