Meghan Shoemaker, LMFT
About me
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from colorful Colorado. I have over 5 years of experience working with families, couples, and individuals of all ages. I was also an in-home intensive behavioral coach for a year and half focusing on maintaining children in their home whose families were involved with Child Protection. I have experience working with clients who are involved in the legal system, whether through probation or parole, around such topics as domestic violence, childhood trauma, or receiving a child abuse charge.
I have worked with clients around infidelity, communication issues, and trying to reconnect in the relationship. I have worked with individuals of all ages, including teenagers, around sexuality, depression, anxiety, abuse, and life changes. Working as an in-home coach allowed me the opportunity, in some of the most difficult situations, to help families rebuild and parents to gain new skills allowing them to better connect with their children.
I would define my counseling style as eclectic, while being empathetic and understanding. I know that seeking treatment can be difficult and I want you to feel comfortable in our therapeutic relationship. No two people are the same and so I do what is necessary to best help you specifically with what you are going through. I believe that Emotion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy provide techniques that can be useful when dealing with many of life's challenges.
I am excited and grateful that you have chosen me to go through this experience with you!

I have enjoyed talking with Meghan because she listens to what I have to say and helps me dig deeper into the issues I bring up. She validates my feelings and helps me think of ways to better myself.
