About Me

My Formal Training/Experience:
I am an experienced Social Worker with an LCSW and a demonstrated history of working with clients in agencies and private practice. I am also a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional which is helpful when working with people managing anxiety and mood disorders or substance abuse and addiction recovery.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Southern Illinois University and a master's in social work from the University of Illinois at Chicago Jane Addams School of Social Work. I continually work to grow and improve my practice by researching, finding and providing effective supports and using the most current, best-practices in the field. Using a strengths-based approach with Cognitive Behavior Theory, Person-Centered counseling approaches and the integration of other approaches, such as Solution Focused Therapy, I work with clients to find more positive, effective social and coping skills, they begin to see improvements in their relationships and their positive connectedness to the community.

Faith Approach to Healing:
As a Christian, I bring to our sessions the knowledge of the Word and how our Heavenly Father is truly able to heal us. We were created to heal! Often what I have seen is people in pain are struggling with their identity and truly do not know who they are. We will work together using the Word and prayer to help heal and reframe traumatic memories or dysfunctional functioning. God created us in the womb and his plan for us was for good. He created us to thrive and flourish in our unique personalities and he wants you to be the unique individual that he created. He delights in his design of you!
Sometimes our life functioning is shaped by factors that were needed or necessary at a time in the past, but maybe not so much now. Few people can go through life without encountering some kind of trauma and how we interpreted that is carried into our relationships and current functioning. Many adult trauma survivors experience a struggle with depression, anxiety, and other issues related to emotional regulation. These resulting mental health issues can contribute to long-term difficulties maintaining healthy relationships, and lead to problems at school and/or work. Toxic stress is an emotional and/or physical response that occurs when a person experiences strong, frequent, and/or prolonged adversity without adequate support.
It is well-known that there are physiological changes that occur in the brain when there is trauma that can impact us for the rest of our lives unless dealt with.
The good news is that God knew ahead of time about the fall of man and that we would likely experience trauma and He created our bodies to heal.
Because you are a chosen child of the Most High God, you are created in his image and he specifically wants you to heal you so you can thrive and flourish in life. If past trauma is getting in the way of that for you, you have come to the right place!
The Bible uses the analogy of how we can flourish like a palm tree that is planted by a stream or river. When we are rooted in God, we heal, grow and prosper.
The focus of my time with you is on your well-being. That comes from you stepping into becoming who you were created to be!
If you are still reading , that must mean you are ready to make some lasting changes in your life. I am excited and ready to work with you!
