Hello! I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with 10 years of experience in therapy and over 20 years working with teenagers and families. I started my career in youth ministry and earned a Bachelor's degree in Christian Education/Youth Ministry from Ozark Christian College. As I worked with teens and families, I wanted to be more equipped to help and went on to pursue my Master of Science in Marriage & Family Therapy from Capella University.
I am incredibly passionate about people and have experience working with them in ministry, outpatient, and residential settings over the last 22 years. I am unashamedly a Christian counselor, but I am thrilled to work with teens and adults who are in all places on the spectrum of their spiritual journeys. I realize that faith is a process, and there is no judgement wherever you may be. My primary modalities of therapy are Narrative and Solution-Focused, but I operate using many interventions as they are helpful to my clients.
Research tells us that the most important thing in counseling is building a safe relationship where you can be completely honest without fear. Therapy in my "office" is a place where you can let your guard down and be completely real with the things that may be hard to talk about elsewhere. The most courageous thing a person can do is reach out for help when struggling. It is not lost on me what a great privilege it is to be invited into some of the toughest parts of your story.
Please do let me know if you have any questions I can answer for you. I look forward to walking this road together.

I have only had a few sessions with Melissa but I feel she has already greatly increased the quality of my day to day life. Talking to her is easy and she helps me put things in new perspective.
Melissa has helped where others have failed. I’m not an easy ‘but to crack’ so to speak and easily stay in a comfortable spot while still disclosing enough to keep someone busy but Melissa was able to traverse my issues and help me find some peace.
I really enjoy our sessions. She has an amazing personality. She makes me feel comfortable and listens to my concerns. We have only have a few sessions but I’m grateful for how much she’s helped me so far. I’m happy that she’s my counselor.
Melissa has been such a wonderful counselor. She is very kind and understanding. Melissa is always building me up and inspires me in many different ways. She has been an amazing person to talk too and so helpful.
