Welcome to my page. I have an eclectic approach to counseling and life. As other counseling professionals, I have had a challenging life and focused in areas which could help myself. Now that I am on this journey I would love to share with you the things I have learned and practice regularly. As a Faith-based counselor, I have worked for a Catholic Community Private Practice in Indiana. While working here I have seen what an important part of having someone that is culturally competent in this area can do to assist in reaching goals and growing spiritually. I am honored to be apart of this journey with you. I have read many religious books and spiritual path training over the years. I appreciate an opportunity to support you on this path. As life shows up we lean into our faith and grow through it.
I have been told for many years that speaking to me is "easy and comfortable". I drive for Uber to get out in the community more and boy do people open up while I take them to their jobs, home and out with friends. I appreciate this. I went to the University of Southern California for my Masters of Social Work. I did this via a Virtual Academy so that I could continue to be present in my families life. I cared for my stepmother during the last 5 years of her life, living with Stage 4 Inflammatory Breast Cancer. I assisted with co-parenting and being a support person and writing papers about some of the greatest Social Workers' in history. I learned so much, primarily focusing on trauma and anxiety responses. I have done many trainings since being out of school and focused on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) informed training, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), brief therapies and other theories and manualized training. I work really well with addicts seeking recovery, parents of persons consumed by addition. Addictions are such difficult issues which affect so many all around the person who is consumed by it. I have focused on grief and loss, losing support to suicide, empty nesting, trauma survivors, veterans ( I took special classes on Veterans needs at USC). I work well with Lesbian issues and am a strong supporter of people living with coming out, seeking supports and coping with the social changes which occur. As I mentioned prior my stepmother had Stage 4 Breast Cancer, for a year I assisted in facilitating a stage 4 support group to cope with changes in diagnosis, managing families responses and learning to live with a terminal disease.
As you can tell I am very well rounded in working with many different populations, feel free to email and let set up an appointment.
I look forward to meeting you and learning how I can help you help yourself into a better life.
