Hello! My name is Patty and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of West Virginia with 20 years of counseling experience. I graduated with a master’s degree in counseling from Franciscan University of Steubenville and earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from West Liberty University. I have worked in schools and outpatient settings with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, grief, anger issues, and trauma.
I believe that faith plays a vital role in our lives. Bringing our thoughts and actions in line with our faith helps guide us back onto the path God intended for each of us individually and with others. With this in mind, I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral and Reality Therapy approaches but I draw upon many therapeutic methods in order to find what works best for each client. No one approach works for everybody, so it is important for me to tailor my style according to my client's needs. Therapy is a collaborative effort between my clients and me and success will only come through open and honest exchanges. Therapy is something I am doing with you and not to you.
I strive to create a safe nonjudgmental process built upon mutual respect and honesty. I incorporate Christian principles and values to help you strengthen your relationship with God. My goal is to provide a nurturing, compassionate, and sincere therapeutic environment. The experience should be emotionally, mentally, and spiritually fulfilling leaving you feeling confident, encouraged, and empowered. The process can be uncomfortable at times but it’s part of working towards positive changes. I am easy going, relaxed, and a great listener who will challenge you to be the best you can be.
Some personal interests of mine include attending Christian retreats and conferences, writing, reading, traveling, and golfing. I also enjoy watching just about any sport but my favorites are football and hockey. I primarily listen to Christian music so that I am feeding myself positive and encouraging messages daily.
You have taken the first step towards making changes and I am proud of you for that. It can be so difficult to ask for help and with God guiding us, I am here to support you every step of the way. I look forward to working with you on this journey. Let's get started!
