About Me

Hello! I am a licensed professional counselor with over 7 years' experience serving individuals and families in institutional, outpatient, and community-based settings. My clinical experience includes work with individuals dealing with mood disorders, anxiety, anger-related concerns, post-traumatic stress, relationship difficulties, chemical dependency and other addictive behaviors, motivational and self-esteem challenges, as well as those with developmental delays, including autism and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. As a board certified music therapist, I can also provide modified music therapy to individuals who feel they may benefit from this approach.

"The Lord is my Light and my Salvation. Whom shall I fear?" The Word of God teaches that "perfect love casts out fear" (1 John 4:18), and secular psychology has shown that the two strongest psychological motivators are fear and love. My chief goal as a Christian counselor is to help people understand the true nature and breadth of perfect love, which comes only from Jesus Christ, the Wonderful Counselor, the only true and abiding source of hope and healing. Because our sin nature distorts the way in which we view ourselves, our Savior, and others around us, true healing can only come through allowing God's Word to purify our thinking, cast out our fear, and baptize us in God's perfect love. Romans 12:2 says, "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." One of the cornerstones of my practice is guiding people toward a renewed mind. Additionally, my training and experience as a music therapist leads me to approach treatment in an experiential way. My hope is to help people find ways to experience peace and joy more fully in their lives through first giving a voice to the grief and pain that have arisen from the hurts and losses they have experienced. I believe that the Psalms are such a beautiful picture of the truth that our Savior wants us to be open to expressing in creative ways all of the joy and sorrow we feel.

I commend your taking action in searching out help for the challenges you are facing. While we sometimes believe that asking for help is a sign of weakness, it actually takes more strength to admit that we are struggling. Personal experience has shown me that great power and healing can be found in the experience of pouring out hurts and struggles to a trusted brother or sister who simply acts as a gracious witness. I would be honored and humbled to be that gracious witness for you!

My practice days are Monday-Friday between 8:30 AM and 6 PM EST, with evenings by appointment.

I have been extremely happy with my counseling sessions with Philip Wieszczyk. He has a great way of facilitating the conversation without overrunning what I have to say. He mixes the right amount of humor and seriousness into the session. For myself, the faith perspective is necessary to meet me where I am, which he does beautifully without me feeling preached to or that traditional therapy approaches aren’t also important.
