About Me

I am a Marriage & Family Therapist practicing in both Hawaii, and in California for the last 7 years. I have over 25 years of professional experience working in different settings including: group homes, elementary schools, domestic violence shelters, Church ministries, 12 step groups, homeless shelters, assisted living homes, and outpatient programs.

I work with individuals, couples, families and young adults who are suffering with depression, sexual problems, relational problems, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, school problems, and addiction. I specialize in Trauma, PTSD and relationships in crisis. I also provide couples sensitive for spouses alone in trying to save their marriages, and couples friendly therapy which focuses on improving the relationship when divorce is not an option.

I recognize each person has unique strengths, talents, and challenges, that make certain therapies more effective than traditional talk therapy. This is why I use a variety of approaches such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Experiential Therapies (art, Mindfulness and Gestalt techniques) in my practice.
I received my graduate degree from Hope International University, a fully accredited Christian College, where my studies included being proficient in integrating evidence based practices within a Christian World view. As a Christian therapist I believe in a Biblical approach, that honors your spiritual values, and most importantly acknowledges the healing power of God.

Therapy does not have to involve the time consuming practices of deep analysis or delving into the past. It does not have to be figuring out what is wrong or tear filled sessions. I see therapy as a place for healing that is not confined to diagnostic labels or dwelling in the past. Instead, healing happens through exploring solutions, experiencing the present, experimenting with new approaches to fully experience who you are so that you can relate to yourself and others in more satisfying and genuine ways.

I always feel better after a session with Ramona. She has a lot of insight and helps to look at things from a different perspective
