About Me

I see counseling as a process in which you the client, and I, the counselor, having come to understand and trust one another, work as a team to explore and define present problem situations, develop future goals for an improved life and work in a systematic fashion toward realizing those goals. My psycho-educational presentations provide information to improve life skills with discussion and mutual support within the group. I focus on providing evidenced-based brief interventions using trauma-informed care. I follow the teachings of Christ that all people have gifts, talents, and abilities to share with others; that unconditional love can heal all wounds; and we all have the ability to improve.

I earned a Master of Arts degree in Student Personnel Services, Counseling from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in May 2011 and a Doctor of Behavioral Health from Arizona State University in December 2017. I am licensed as a Professional Counselor (#5115) with the Louisiana LPC Board of Examiners at 11410 Lake Sherwood Ave. North Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70816, (225) 295-8444. On May 12, 2020, I became licensed as a Professional Counselor (#83930) by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors in Austin, Texas.

I have been working with Dr Martin for about 3 weeks now. She is extremely helpful and patient. She listens and gives tools that are relevant. I am already seeing improvement in my mindset and ability to see how the tools provided are extremely helpful. I really appreciate Dr Martin’s help and am very grateful for her and her support.

Dr. Martin is a kind and gentle soul who listens attentively and offers encouragement and suggestions for dealing with your concerns. She gives you exercises to work on between sessions and tries to teach you to steer your thoughts in a positive direction. She responded to messages in a timely manner and showed up on time to our sessions. She has already helped me a lot!
