My name is Bob Baker and I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist. I have been licensed for over 30 years. I served in the U.S. Army, was with the 82nd Airborne Division then closed out my military service as a Drill Instructor. Then I became a pastor/counselor! I was raised in an alcoholic home and I too am an alcoholic. I've been clean for over 45 years.
I became a Christian after I got out of the service. It is a long story but eventually I entered the ministry and found out that seminary did not prepare me to deal with those hurting in my church. I returned to school to learn how to help them, when I got the Master's Degree in Marriage and Family, the floodgates in my church opened up! I could not do the counseling, do the duties of a senior pastor and fulfill my responsibilities as a husband and father. I loved the pastoral ministry, but my heart was in helping people. I resigned my position and opened a private practice but worked with churches to help their hurting people. I have a deep jealousy for the church to be the place hurting people could go to for help. This ultimately led me to Saddleback Church. I was the Pastor of Pastoral Care at Saddleback Church under Rick Warren for 18 years. This is a church with 30,000 people attending every week. Faith should not be a weapon to be used against others, or against one's self. Faith should give us a fair setting where the guidelines apply equally to everyone. With that said I have worked with many people to help them reclaim the rightful relationship with Jesus and set aside the bonds that others have wrongfully put on them. I want to help people have the joy and abundant life promised to the in the Bible when they belong to Jesus. I'm here to help you know the God of the universe in a more personal way.

I have done counselling before, but as a teen. I never felt comfortable or trusted the person I was talking to. Robert has made me feel like he truly cares and I look forward to our sessions.
