About me

My personal approach:
I especially respect the individual uniqueness of each person who becomes my client. There are no clones in my office. My expectations for you are not based on standardized universal norms for what to think, what to do, and how to feel. With respect and honoring your unique situation I work with clients to better understand areas of their own life situation and set their own personal goals for change. We will explore things that are holding you back and discover your own strengths and resources to help make the change.
If you are looking for extra support while faced with a challenging situation and you are ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.

I’ve been working with Dr. Mapes for about six months. I was drawn to him because of something he put in his bio: that he treats each patient as unique cases. I felt at ease from our very first conversation and he’s helped me navigate very difficult emotional baggage and trauma. I am forever grateful and appreciative that our paths could cross - my mental health has definitely stabilized as a direct result of our conversations. I’m grateful to him for his availability and timely use of the BetterHelp platform - I’m always able to schedule an appointment with him when it’s convenient for me. Dr. Mapes communicates with me frequently via BetterHelp and checks on me when I am delayed in my responses to him. That’s how I know he cares about me. Thank you Dr. Mapes.

Cool guy, offers good perspectives, and what sounds like good advice. With that being said, I have yet to apply what we've talked about, as I am spending the summer in a new city away from the usual distractions and tribulations of my life, and the help I was seeking revolved changing my habits that stem from college and being involved in that lifestyle. So we'll see how well his advice translates once I move back to my normal residence and lifestyle
