About me
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over twenty years of providing counseling and psychological help to individuals from a diverse background, with varying beliefs and issues. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in a triple major to include psychology, sociology and theology. I dual tracked Masters work in Marriage and Family therapy while completing a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I have certifications as a School Psychologist in California and South Carolina and a School Administrator's certification in California. I have a deep personal faith but value all persons regardless of their belief systems. I have studied and mastered many different treatment approaches however I have found the most effective treatment approach is that which best fits each individual client. For that reason, I am always very interested to learn which approach each client thinks best. I approach all clients with a deep respect and a person-centered tenet of unconditional positive regard.
Coming from a deep personal Christian faith since the age of thirteen, I have always relied on my understanding of faith to interpret counseling and psychological principles.
Over the course of twenty years of serving as a psychologist I have enjoyed helping individuals from all faith backgrounds as well as those with no particular belief system explore the meaning of such systems. I look forward to working with you!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Robert Nelson. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Faithful Counseling might be different.
Dr. Nelson is clear, straight forward, and compassionate. He has a very keen insight into life and the challenges that I face. He provides a safe space, and clear boundaries, which all help to create a sense of security and trust. He is very honest, and willing to ask the hard questions and give practical direction.
In 3 sessions Dr. Nelson has brought me further in my healing than I thought possible. I know I still have a long way to go that only time will truly repair but having the insight to understand why things happened and the tools to move forward is an indescribable blessing. I know God led me to Faithful Counseling and connected me with Dr. Nelson.
He very understanding and the key to counseling is to make a person think so they can develop new ideals and way to change to make them better. He is it. He can make you ponder and think and give hope to your future.
I feel like Dr. Nelson is helping me after only two sessions
