Sarahi Hernandez

About Me

Hello, my name is Sarahi Hernandez and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of New Mexico. I am happy to identify as a devout Christian Catholic. I was born and raised in a culture within the church called “Catholic Charismatic Renewal” in California. I new that my family and I worshiped and followed our faith differently than other Catholics since early on. The reason I say this is because we grew up reading scripture at home, praying not only pre-written prayers but prayers from our heart, and we worshiped God by clapping, dancing, singing, jumping and just feeling the Holy Spirit. I was always taught that having a relationship with God was the most important part of my life and that it came before anything else. I have been a youth group coordinator/leader since before I became a therapist. Working with the youth has been rewarding and a huge blessing. Our youth are the future and there are times when they go through critical spiritual tests that make them doubt or question their faith. I did not always have the answers but I was confident that the Word of God did as well as our spiritual guides.
As I went through my graduate studies I went through many challenges in regards to my faith as a Christian and my identity as a therapist. Many times some of my personal values did not mesh well with what I was learning; however, I can now say with certainty that this “mesh” is my strongest quality. It helps me see things in a larger perspective and blend my approach as compassionate and sensitive. Being a Christian is first. Being a counselor is my vocation. Being open to work with anyone from any background and belief is my priority. When you open up about your faith in counseling, and it is important to you it automatically becomes your strongest coping skill. You can surrender to Him in the comfort of your bedroom, in your place of worship; but sometimes he puts people in your path for a reason. I don’t believe in luck or chance, if you are reading my bio it is for a reason. I am happy to start this journey with you!

I have found my experience of online counselling with Sarahi to be extremely positive and helpful.

Her responses are always full of kindness, compassion, wisdom and understanding. She listens without judgement, and gives validation, insight and constructive advice. I have found her encouragement and support to be invaluable during the months that I have been working with her.

I would definitely hugely recommend Sahari as a counsellor to others.
