I started working in the field of Counseling in 1984 and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in WV in 1989. I hold additional certifications as a National Board Certified Counselor and a National Certified School Counselor. My experience has ranged from working with clients of all ages, who have experienced spiritual doubt, anxiety, relationship and family issues, self-esteem, grief and trauma.
I became a Christian as a child, but did not start actively serving our God till my college years. Since then I have been using my guitar and voice to praise His name in and out of church wherever I am blessed to serve. Over the years that has included working with the youth, but more importantly encouraging other believers in their walk. Our God is awesome, but He has not promised us that life will be easy. He has promised us that we will never have to do it alone.
I am a cancer survivor and know the importance of His promise. It is my faith in this promise that carried me through this and other times in my life. I care about the various people I have worked with and will be honest when needed. My approach includes utilizing reality therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, and solution focused therapy. I tailor what is needed for each client that I work with. The Bible was given to us as roadmap for life. If you so desire, that will also include challenging you with Biblical truths.
Change can be scary besides being exciting at the same time. I recognize the courage it takes to undergo this step to not only survive , but to seek to thrive. I look forward to working with you to take on this challenge.
