Shareen Wornson

About Me

I am an enthusiastic and hard-working, responsible person who loves helping people. I had wanted to be a counselor my whole life, but was taken in a different direction early on. Later in life when I realized I could get my masters degree without re-doing my bachelors, I went back to school and got my M.A. in Professional Counseling. I was finally able to do the job I loved (and get paid for it!). I work with a variety of clients, but my specialty is in working with child sexual abuse victims and their non-offending family members. I work a lot with people who have experienced trauma and domestic violence. But, I also work with people who might just be struggling in their life, feeling depressed or anxious, or just need a sounding board. I do a lot of work with parents as well and believe a balanced family system is very important. As a mother of two grown daughters, I bring a lot of life experience to the table. I am also passionate about LGBTQIA+ issues. Basically, anyone who is an underdog is going to get my attention. Before I worked on my MA in Professional Counseling, I was pursuing a Master of Divinity. I have extensive background in Christian studies and was raised in and continue to live in a Christian household. Not everyone wants to include their faith in their counseling services, but I am very comfortable to do so and very knowledgable in this area as well.
