At times we are faced with situations from the past or the present that cause us to become overwhelmed. Whether it be life in general, work, children, spousal relationships, or something much deeper there are ways to work through them. I work well with children, adolescents, adults, and families to help them find solutions and clarity in their situations. For the past two years, I have worked specifically with victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, and other traumatic events. If you are experiencing any of these situations I would love to work with you or your loved ones.
I have been licensed in Texas as a professional counselor for two years. I have over 15 years of experience working with at-risk youth and their families. For the past two years, I have worked specifically with victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, and other traumatic events. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior therapy but can use different modalities to fit the client's needs. The CBT models work well with clients who experience depression, anxiety, anger issues, substance abuse, and behavior problems. I do work to address trauma and substance abuse at the same time because I feel that they walk hand in hand. I also have worked with victims of domestic violence and provide psychotherapy education for women and men to be able to look for red flags and understand the impact of domestic violence. I have a Master's in Professional Counseling and a master's certificate in Autism Education. I work well with families to help them understand more about the diagnosis of Autism. Currently, I am pursuing my Doctorate in Traumatology to help me better understand the impact trauma has on all ages.
My counseling style is friendly, compassionate and interactive. I believe everyone should have the chance to heal and recover and that our diagnosis or circumstances does not define who we are. After the initial intake I will work with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your specific needs. One of the bravest things a person can do is ask for help and to take the first steps to make a change.
One of my favorite sayings is "Perhaps the Butterfly is Proof That You Can Go Through A Great Deal of Darkness Yet Become Something Beautiful".
I look forward to working with you to help make something beautiful!!
From early on I have known that God had a plan for my life. The path has not always been easy and many obstacles have occurred. It is my faith in God that has kept me steady and strong throughout it. I have trusted God to help me through some dark times in my past and the healing process was not as difficult as I sought God's guidance and wisdom. I now take the blessings that He has passed onto me to help His children heal and find guidance in therapy. In my therapy sessions I allow myself to be guided by the Holy Spirit to lead the counseling session. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and received my degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. I love the work that the University is doing in making Champions for Christ. Currently I am working on my Doctorate in Counseling with an emphasis in Traumatology.
