About Me

As a Christian, I believe that our faith in God must be in the forefront of our counseling experience. As Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (NIV) We understand from our faith that it's not God's plan for us to carry a burden. Romans 11:36 tells us , "For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen." (NIV) Now, how do we carry this out in our daily lives? Why don't we experience the freedom in Christ that is available to us and spoken about in the Bible?
Hi! I'm so excited that you've decided to seek some support! I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Nevada and Texas and a licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in Texas. I have over 12 years working with a variety of people from varying backgrounds. I've provided counseling in a church setting, private practice, schools, in patient treatment centers, and military bases. My specialities include spirituality, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, addiction, coping and more.
I have two master's degrees; one in counseling psychology and one in religious studies from Southern CA Seminary. My approach to counseling is to partner with you to determine what's working and what's not. I then support you as you decide what changes you'd like to make and together we'll create the steps to make those changes.
My style is warm, empathetic and direct. I believe in you and your ability through faith to create the life you want. I use a variety of interventions depending on what your needs are as counseling is never "one size fits all."
I can't wait to get to know you and your unique challenges so we can begin the journey to change. I know it takes a lot of courage to get to a place in your life where you're ready for something different. God is faithful to provide and will be with us throughout our time together.
Thanks so much for reaching out! I look forward to speaking with you!!!

Shelley did an amazing job counseling me in our video session! She went out of her way to schedule me for a full hour so that she could spend more time listening to me and helping me. She was so patient, kind, and empathetic. I was also impressed with the insight she had into my problems after only one session. I felt at ease from the start and left our session with some great ways to overcome my problems. I am so grateful that I was placed with her and would definitely recommend using her!
