Greetings! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share a little bit about who I am as it will hopefully provide insight about my approach in counseling and most importantly how I am able to help you. First, I want to state that I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and Biology as well as my Masters in Professional Counseling from Seton Hall University while attaining Honors (Kappa Delta Pi). While research is very important to the progression of understanding the human mind, our spirit is what guides us and allows us to connect with not only each other and our world but ultimately to God.
Research has in fact shown that individuals who believe in a higher being (God) as well as form a relationship with him, have greater resiliency and capacity for growth in love, gratitude, and overall well being. Implementing the Christian ideals and philosophy, which is based on loving ourselves and one another without judgement as Christ loved us.. is what will help individuals know who they are.
I feel that we are all capable of love and becoming who we really are. Somewhere along the way, we lose that piece of us. Somehow, we believe we are incapable of reaching our potential and we deem ourselves unimportant. I am here to tell you though, that that is not the case. With honesty and openness in the therapeutic process, that is when the healing begins.
These approaches acknowledge the sanctity of every background, belief, race, and national origin. It is salient that I learn about what it is that you believe, how you grew up, and how perhaps those differ from who you really want to be. The therapeutic process is a journey where you can remember your worth and give yourself space to grow and recapture the essence of who you are. This takes time however, and so patience is key. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you on your life path. Thank you so much for taking your time in learning more about me. I hope to work with you soon.

Somer has been a life saver! I have been counseling with her over the covid months and summer and have made sommuchborogress with her insight and gentle ways of motivating me to explore the ways my brain works. I am so happy with her it's like I've gained a new friend! She listens and gives me time to really think about things and goes over what I've said so I can understand better where my thought process comes from. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is struggling with anxiety or identity because she has helped me tremendously with both!
My experience has been very positive and helpful as I have had many counseling sessions with Somer Brown. She listens to my concerns and has the insight and experience to channel the conversation toward positive resolution. I am more comfortable delving into difficult territory than with other counselors I have had.
