Stephanie B. Dean, MA, LPC, is an experienced Christian psychotherapist with training in women’s issues, substance abuse counseling, overcoming depression, and more. She possesses a Master of Arts Degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and is the founder of Greater Bogalusa Community Center, a nonprofit, human services organization in Bogalusa, LA. Mrs. Dean possesses special skills and experience in working with patients in several areas including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and career decisions. Mrs. Dean has extensive experience in counseling individuals who have experienced trauma such as catastrophic events, sexual abuse, physical abuse, or neglect. Mrs. Dean counsels patients from a strengths-based, goal-focused perspective which is biblically-based and coupled with empathy and understanding. She employs Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and priming psychology. Mrs. Dean has experience in counseling couples, parents, and entire families who seek resolution to family and relationship issues. Mrs. Dean is also able to effectively work with couples to help break barriers to marital intimacy. She is a motivational life coach and an excellent facilitator of psychoeducational sessions on life skills, setting and reaching goals, writing affirmations, and concerning communication skills, conflict resolution, or anger management skills. She provides coaching to individuals, couples, parents, and families concerning the issues they are experiencing. By client request and consent, Mrs. Dean is able to provide Christian counseling which is founded on scripture. Because of her Christian convictions, Mrs. Dean is unable to counsel clients concerning LBGTQ relationships and issues. It is important to provide this information in advance so that LBGTQ clients can quickly receive the counseling they need.
Stephanie Dean works from 8:00 - 4:00pm three days a week as a family counselor. She will not always be able to respond to messages during these hours. Mrs. Dean will respond at her first break or right after work. (During the covid-19 crisis, Mrs. Dean's hours have been expanded.)
