Dr. Steven Murdock

(Ed.D., M.S., LPC-S)

About Me

I am a licensed professional counselor - supervisor (LPC-S) in the State of Texas. I have a bachelor of science (B.S.) degree in psychology, a master of science (M.S.) degree in psychology, and a doctor of education (Ed.D.) degree in educational leadership where my major course of study involved investigating methods used by colleges and universities to meet the needs of college student-athletes. I have approximately 25 years of counseling experience. A significant portion of that experience has involved working in Christian settings. Essentially, I take a Christian orientation to faith-based counseling in which we can use whatever spiritual resources are necessary to help you get to where you wish to be. In fact, I kneel down and pray before my sessions begin for the day begin so that I may have maximum Divine help in my therapy work. Although my counseling approach in faith-based counseling basically involves customizing the sessions to meet the needs of the client, I find that I draw from cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, behavioral, spiritual, and client-centered approaches the most. My ultimate goal is for you to no longer need me. This would mean that either our treatment goals have been achieved or at least the necessary tools are in place. Nevertheless, however long we need to work together as a team, I will be here for you. Let's get started!

Very good listener and quick to have an idea or solution to help. Enjoy the conversation. Sometimes just having someone to vent to really helps me a lot.
