Blessings to you and your effort to pursue support on your behalf. Your Christianity is one of your greatest strengths and a foundation which offers you valuable assurances. One of those assurances is your value to God which he confirmed through His willingness to endure His most painful loss. Although He wants us to live fulfilled, bountiful lives, He knows our lives on earth will not be without pain but He also never expects us to manage those struggles without Him. He is with you because you are so valuable to Him. He wants you to embrace your value and in reaching out for additional support, I believe you are doing just that. God wants us to love and support one another and that is my foundation as a Christian and a therapist. In my over 30 year career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have been privileged to connect with three year olds to 103 year olds! My motivation is to make a positive difference in the time I am given in this world with the ultimate reward of hearing "Well done, my good and faithful servant." My spirituality and faith is the foundation of my character and a valued part of my daily guidance. My first recommendation to all clients is to advocate for yourself as you choose a therapist. Invest in yourself and your value to make certain you feel comfortable with the therapist you choose. Often if the experience isn't what you expected, a client will hesitate to request an alternative therapist, ultimately discontinuing therapy with unmet needs. The connection between you and your therapist is instrumental in successful, productive therapy . My responsibility is to create a healthy, therapeutic relationship which is based upon trust and nonjudgemental acceptance. Therapy is a challenging process and your willingness to share what might be a painful history is a gift I do not accept lightly. It is important to me to honor your journey, acknowledging the vulnerability of opening past chapters of your story to someone who begins as a stranger. The names of the therapeutic modalities I choose to implement are not the priority as you explore your willingness to begin this process. It will be necessary for you to begin with the goal to trust in my competence and experience to qualitatively respond to what you are currently managing.
