About Me

Welcome! It takes alot of courage to seek counseling services and I admire your strength in seeking to better yourself! In counseling, I attempt to meet people where they are at and I do not impose my personal beliefs onto others. I offer a non-judgmental environment and supportive approach for you to meet your goals.

I respond to all written messages within 24-hours Monday-Friday, and we can schedule live video sessions, chat or phone. I am a real person with real professional and personal responsibilities and I am not always in front of the computer. Thank you for your patience when awaiting a response in written communication format. Please be aware that chat sessions need to be scheduled, and I can not always respond right away in unscheduled time.

Here is a little bit about my background, education and experience.

I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist experienced in treating depression; anxiety; post traumatic stress; relationship issues; and adjustment. I am experienced in providing support for parenting and developmental disabilities including Autism. I am also certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I offer a hope inspired, non-judgmental, supportive, solution focused, strength based approach.

I grew up in the state of Washington until moving to Orange County, CA in 1997. I attained my undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2001, from Vanguard University of Southern California. In 2006, I attained a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Psychology, from Vanguard University Graduate Clinical Psychology. I first began working in the behavioral health field in 1999, as direct care staff in residential treatment group home facilities with at risk youth considered to have emotional disturbance. Between 2003 and 2006 I trained in Orange County, CA with Newport Community Counseling Center; YMCA Community Services; and F.A.C.E.S., Family Assessment Counseling and Education Services, as a therapist trainee providing counseling services for adults, children and families in clinic settings and school-based services for children. In 2010 I worked with Stars Behavioral Health Group in Long Beach, CA, providing community based mental health services for children and families in the Full Services Partnership Program. I first came to the desert area in 2011 to work as a Clinical Therapist with County of Riverside Department of Mental Health, (Now Riverside University Behavioral Health), where I was trained in the evidenced based practices of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy; Aggression Replacement Training; and became certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have held additional positions in Inpatient and Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment programs, providing therapy for adults with dual diagnosis.

I currently live in the desert area near Palm Springs with my husband and five children, and maintain a private practice in La Quinta, CA. I enjoy Peloton cycling, rollerblading, listening to inspirational teaching, and eating sushi in my free time.

Dr. Waverek offered me the support I needed during a difficult situation. She really makes an effort to address the most pertinent issue at that moment. Her advice and tools can be used for a lifetime of growth and change, not just during the time of need.
