I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina, who for many years have been counseling people who are dealing with depression, anxiety, poor anger management, problems within their intimate relationships, communication problems within their family, parenting challenges, grief/loss, adjustment issues and job loss. My counseling framework is a combination of Person Centered therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe that as a Mental Health Practitioner, my role is to empower clients to be the best expert on their life by teaching them tangible/realistic skills to help replace maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors that have caused chaos in their lives, with positive ones. This is accomplished through psycho-educational activities geared to increase the client’s ability to identify situations that trigger the negative thoughts/emotions/behaviors and learn new ways to be proactive at catching the problem at the onset, so that it does not turn into a conflict that zaps energy taking away from living life at their highest and best. My clients are often provided with counseling homework activities that help to reinforce the skills discussed during the counseling session and asked to report back on progress.
In addition to my work as a Psychotherapist, I have over 5 years of experience working as a School Social Worker. I have empowered parents with strategies on how to advocate for their child within the school district, while reducing their levels of stress.
My counseling style consists of three main philosophies
1. To create a counseling space that is welcoming, safe, and warm and provides people the space to be their true self, free from judgment.
2. To be aware that clients are resilient and have the natural untapped skills to combat life’s obstacles. It is my job to help them build upon their inner strengths, while teaching them realistic coping skills to help them effectively address their problems.
3. To know that counseling is like a dance, the client always leads, and my role is to hold my client’s accountable, assisting in reaching their goals so they can mentally, emotionally and spiritually dance through life’s most challenging situations.

This experience has been eye opening for me. I used to be the type of person that thought, "What can someone else tell me that I don't already know"? Turns out therapy is more like a suggestion then anything. My therapist Ms. Edmond has done a wonderful job bringing me back to reality. I've made alot of mistakes in my life but each time I try to learn something. We all know right from wrong but in reality its your perception of a thing that will ultimately lead you to the choices that you make. We are all broken in some way and at times just need to be rerouted. A little while back I herd someone say ," A jar of honey can't read it's own label." I'm the jar of honey we all our really. We have so much going on inside us sometimes that we don't consider outside help. I didn't know I was honey until Ms. Edmond read my lable. She has been a tremendous help in more ways than one. Especially when it comes to really understanding who I really am and she did it with a few suggestions. Amazing listener 10 of 10 highly recommended. Extremely thankful and bless to have gotten the opportunity to speak with Ms. Edmond.
