My name is Yvonne Heim, a Licensed Professional Counselor with the state of Texas. I have been a counselor for close to fifteen years. I have a master’s degree in psychology with a specialty in addiction and a master’s degree in human services with a specialty in mental health counseling. My approach to helping clients is I understand every client is different as are the problems they present with and one size does not fit all when it comes to helping clients. There are a variety of theories and techniques to assist clients in reaching his or her goals but, Person Centered Therapy along with Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) has worked well for me in treating clients.
I want clients to feel comfortable working with me and me with him or her. More importantly, I want a client to leave a session feeling like he or she was heard, and the problems, issues, and goals were the focus of the session. During sessions, clients should feel comfortable sharing and asking questions and not feel judged in any way. Person Centered Therapy is ideal for accomplishing those things. I also believe one's thoughts greatly impact one's mood, emotional well-being, and behavior. Teaching clients how to overcome many of his or her negative thinking patterns is extremely helpful and utilizing DBT can be beneficial in assisting a client to achieve peace within while working on problems and overcoming problems through emotion regulation and mindfulness.
I am a Christian and actively practice what it takes to be a good Christian. I lean heavily on God to guide me daily and especially in stressful times and I believe it is God who helped me through the passing of my spouse, childhood traumas, and other challenges that I have faced. If you are wanting to work with a counselor who is faith-based, then I would be happy to have you as my client.

I have only had one session, but I feel she really listens and is genuine. She has also been available to me through messaging, which is so helpful for me because of my chronic illness. I really appreciate her spending the time to help me outside of the actual sessions, that is the main reason I think this online counseling is almost better than in person. I appreciate the many different ways you can receive help.
She’s exactly what I need
