Many Christians want to know that the support they receive from a therapist will align with their beliefs. As a Christian therapist, I completely understand this desire and love to help Christians heal their relationship with themselves, with others and with God. My counseling training was done at Denver Seminary, where we learned to integrate theology with psychological theory. I love bringing these two worlds together, and will work hard to understand you and your relationship with God as it relates to your personal goals.
As a therapist, I'm known for my warm, gentle, knowledgeable and respectful approach. As a Person-Centered therapist, I listen to understand, empathize with an informed and open heart, guide each person according to their unique strengths, and believe in the healing power of relationships. I utilize evidence-based counseling theories such as trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), mindfulness-based interventions and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I often engage Attachment research to explore relationship patterns, and I lean heavily on Positive Parenting resources to guide parents. I find it an honor to be a resource for families involved in fostering or adopting children.
I earned my Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Sciences) degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 2005, and received my Master's of Arts in Counseling from Denver Seminary in 2010. I understand mental health from a Christian perspective. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, couples and families. I utilize age-appropriate methods to offer help, hope, guidance and healing.
I live in an urban neighborhood with my husband, daughter, son, periodic foster babies and dog, Nella. I enjoy long walks with my dog, swimming, hot yoga and photographing the memorable and crazy moments with my family. I have an unweildy garden and dream of building a farm with my pottery-making husband.
