I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. As a military spouse I have lived all over the country, including Alaska. I have lived in Texas since 2007.
I have worked with clients in residential drug and alcohol substance abuse centers, with outpatient Servicemembers from all 5 branches of the military on a military installation, to include military Widows. I have helped individuals with multiple mental health issues to include anxiety and depression, my specialty area is grief and loss. I have also worked with victims of crimes and abuses ranging in ages 3-65.
My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines multicultural counseling with a client centered approach to include client centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution focused therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I will encourage you to create a journal as well as a resource binder during therapy to be utilized outside of therapy. The more you put into therapy the more you will receive from it. You are worth investing in yourself!
As a Christian I also incorporate a faith based approach with my counseling, I may refer you to specific areas of the Bible to consider reading should I feel it would be beneficial to the situation you are dealing with and draw you closer to God. I welcome all faiths and no faiths and will respect where you are coming from either way. For those specifically seeking Christian counseling, I offer experience seamlessly integrating faith into the healing process. I love what I do. I love to see others grow and heal. I am passionate about it and I will give your concerns my very best.
As a toddler, I was adopted and grew up in a Christian home. While this was not a particularly loving home, I felt extreme comfort in knowing that my Heavenly Father would never leave or forsake me. That HE is always with me and will meet all my needs. I am grateful for my foundation with the Lord and have deepened it over the years. My personal Christian walk has been my saving grace and guiding force throughout my life despite numerous life events that could have torn me down. Events like sexual assault, loss of a parent, infertility, chronic pain and loneliness. My personal experiences have shaped me into the person that I am today. As a mother to a now 10 year old, I had faced years of infertility. It was only when I focused on the realization that Faith is not believing that God can, it is knowing that he will, that Gods timing is always right, my journey into parenthood began. I am a firm believer that healing includes a whole lot of Jesus and just as much counseling. I will encourage you to begin a prayer journal to increase your communications with God. Sometimes a person will say I prayed and asked God for something, but then that is it. I want you to be able to reflect back on prayers asked, and document how and when they were answered. You will be amazed to see Gods fingerprints in your life and if chosen, I will be excited to help you to also learn your spiritual gifts and help you to move forward to your best self.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you. May God continue to bless you and keep you. Remember this verse when you feel tired and weak or unsure of what to do. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
I look forward to working with you! God Bless You!
