About me
Mr. Spann has a unique blend of education and experience providing opportunities for those he serves to experience emotional and spiritual growth and change, and freedom from obstacles to growth due to trauma, mental health, anxiety, persistent mental illness or chemical dependency disorders. He has been a member of the Association for Christian Counselors since 1992. He graduated from The University of Virginia with a BA in Psychology and from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Masters in Social Work with additional course work with Moody Bible Institute and the the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). He has taught seminars, facilitated small groups and engaged in outpatient therapy in faith based settings since 1988. His clinical experience in outpatient, residential and hospital settings, help clients understand the relationship between the stressors on the family system due to trauma, mental illness and addiction and the impact on quality of life. Mr. Spann also has significant experience in management, marketing, leadership development, personal coaching, and an understanding of relational dynamics in corporate and agency settings.
Personally, I find peace, joy and safety in my faith and in the community I have within my church. My hope is to create and provide the same safe space for each client to express their journeys and open their hearts for support and healing. This is a process of Discovery in which each client continues their journey of improved relationship with God and others.
In counseling I will use Christ as comfort and as a guide for those who are struggling in their own lives. Each therapy session will look different depending on how involved each client would like their faith to be represented within the context of therapy. I will tailor each experience to best fit the needs of my clients from discussion about faith, reading of Scripture/Verses to support removing of roadblocks or to spark further thought and understanding of changing patterns of thought and behavior.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for David Spann. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Faithful Counseling might be different.
I am so lucky to have come across David! An answer to a prayer.
Mr. Spann was incredible! I was not an easy client to help because I had some avoidant tendencies, but he was incredibly patient and helped me work through PTSD and identify the lies I believed that were keeping me stuck in a prison of anxiety and depression. He's very good at what he does, I highly recommend him to anyone dealing with childhood trauma, anxiety and depression and/or substance abuse.
David is a therapist who is quite honest. He tells you without much fuss what your problem is and he shows you ways out of your problem.
If you have questions, suggestions or even criticism, then you are in good hands with him. Don't be afraid to participate interactively in your therapy. Through various tasks and questions that David gives you, you can interactively shape your change.
David loves to talk a lot, sometimes you have to stop him. But otherwise you are in good hands with him.
David helped me work through several traumas that I had not fully processed. He is skillful from a counseling perspective and from a personal perspective - good listener, encourager, compassionate. He is a great blend of Christianity, counseling, and encouragement. I highly recommend working with David if you have any unresolved trauma or personal issues you want to work through and need to receive emotional healing. I really liked that he has a clinical program that helped me work through my traumas. It just wasn't me sitting there talking non stop - he offers a clinical program with exercises that took me step by step through the emotional healing process. He was very responsive when I posted questions. He normally responded the same day. . It was awesome! Thanks to David and Jesus using him I have received complete emotional healing from past traumas! Hallelujah!
just in the beginning stages but i can tell that he is devoted to his work and helping me and the things that he has provided for me to study and address .. i feel is what i need
David is really helping in getting me to dig out the roots of issues I've had. I'd highly recommend him!
I found David Spann's considerable experience and gentle but straightforward approach to be helpful from the first day. He is a man of faith, easy to talk to, encouraging, and generous with his time. You will get your money's worth of wise and thoughtful counsel.
David has helped me do so much to move on from a place of pain and being stuck. He cares and always checks on you, I can truly see it’s his calling not his job. And he helped me in my most difficult time in my live. And even now, looking forward rebuilding my life, he is there to help. Thank you David, best counseling I have experienced.
I like his worksheets that help process what you are dealing with.
David has been incredible to me over the last few months. I always felt listened to and seen for who I am as we spoke to one another. He’s caring and compassionate and isn’t afraid to say it how it is sometimes which I loved! Very thankful for this man and for the role he played in my journey and for the tools he’s given me to proceed!
David is very flexible and understands my issues and remembers what we were talking about. He is happy and friendly and easy to talk to.
I was skeptical about counseling until my first week with David as my counselor. His wisdom, kindness and amount of attention he paid to me as an individual made feel more comfortable and helped to put a lot of things in perspective for me, making it easier to work through. In a month I moved from being very confused to seeing situations more clearly than I have in years. Grateful to God and thankful for the gift of David Spann.
