About Me

Hi. I am Dr. Karen Ferguson. Congratulations on taking the first step towards change in looking for a therapist who will match you and your needs.

The Bible has never promised that life would be easy. However, it does promise that God will be with us each step of the way and that we can depend on Him to guide us through the dark days (Joshua 1:9). Remember, God created you with unique talents and qualities for a specific purpose.

There are times in life when God helps us through relationship with others, such as a therapist. I am primarily a Christian and have been a Licensed Marriage, Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor for many years. I have my doctorate in marriage and family therapy and have had the opportunity to work with individuals of all ages and/or their families who are coping with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, parenting, self-esteem, relationships, bi-polar, and abuse.

The therapy I provide is God driven and designed to meet your needs in a warm, caring, judgment-free environment. We would use a combination of family systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment therapy, existential therapy, or trauma therapy techniques. The combination of these approaches would depend on your unique needs.

During therapy we spend time exploring your concerns to understand what you are feeling and thinking, how your family and culture has become a part of you, and increasing understanding of your strengths and challenges and how these have affected and created the person you are today. The primary goal is always to strengthen your faith and your understanding of God and His purpose in your life. Therapy is active as we use art, books, journaling, or other approaches to increase your insight into who you are and who you want to become.

I look forward to working with you!

Dr. Ferguson has been an instrument God has used to play me His healing melodies. In our sessions, Dr. Ferguson has listened well to everything I’ve had to share and assists me to ponder on thoughts and go deeper to further my growth. I am very grateful for the sessions I have had with her and thank God for her time, love and effort to counsel me.
