Kenya Turner

About Me

Kenya Turner is a therapist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Mental Health Therapist, Speaker, Poet and Reiki Healer. I am married with two children, I earned my MSW from the University of Oklahoma. I have worked with diverse clients women, men, children and families of all ages and backgrounds, experiencing a range of issues depression, anxiety, ADHD, borderline personality disorder, relationship issues, trauma, parenting skills, grief/loss, work and career transition, stress management, conflict resolution, social skills, separation/divorce, self-esteem/self worth, blending families, LBGT, life transitions, goal setting and so much more. I have gained this experience across varies settings, including in home setting, out patient and school setting.

My theoretical orientation is primarily cognitive-behavioral, cognitive processing, solution-focused, holistic, person-centered techniques. This is done by providing and utilizing the most appropriate interventions to yield optimum results to best serve you.

One of my missions in life is to help others recognize who they are and the gifts they have. To not let past hurts and mistakes hinder you. Scars are just a testimony that you made it through. You may be going through something in your life, its just a chapter in your book not the whole story! I am not a traditional therapist, which means that I believe that each individual and their situation is different. I think outside of the box, and identify what will work for you.

As a Christian Counselor, I do my best to meet people were they are spiritually. We all have a purpose and a gift that God has blessed us with. Healing just happens to be one of my gifts. I find myself being the light in the midst of the darkness. I use scripture along with traditional therapy to assist you to be more effective in your life. My walk with God started at a young age, and has continued throughout my life. I don't use judgement, guilt or scare tactics to help or get individuals to change. I have no heaven or hell to put anyone in. We all fall short at some point in our life. I believe with God all things are possible. I am a firm believer that God is a healer of all things, God uses me as one of his agents here on earth to assist in healing. Life and death is in the power of the tongue, be mindful of the words you speak because they can become your reality.

Kenya has been key in helping me through various issues. She is supportive and encouraging. She has helped me reflect on how the past has impacted me and work toward change for the future.

Kenya has been great to work with! She’s helped me through grieving and emotional distress after losing several loved ones. She has also challenged me in healthy ways to step outside my comfort zone and deal with mechanisms that weren’t the healthiest coping mechanisms. She’s helped me grow as a person, while growing deeper in my faith as a Christian.

I really appreciated Kenya's interest in myself and my situation, before giving any advice. She really sought to understand not only my heart, but my environment also.
