Sometimes you need help and can't manage with prayer alone. Sometimes you need objective, compassionate, and professional advice that will help you gain insight and the courage to make changes in your life so that can live a full and rewarding life. Sometimes you need to be reminded that you are a wonderful unique person created in the image of God with gifts and talents yet to be realized.
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor with a deep desire to help individuals overcome their mental and emotional problems using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach in alignment with God's Word . Your thoughts are the drivers of who you are and what you can become and do. Negative thoughts can sabotage your life in many areas - your well being, your relationships, your career, your past, your present and your future. Just as scripture tells us "Whatsoever a man thinks, so is he" Proverbs 23:7. I would find it a pleasure to help you capture those negative thoughts, feelings and behavior patterns that keep you from your best using cognitive behavioral strategies and the truth of God's Word that is scientifically proven to be successful.
I also like to help my clients understand from a scientific perspective just what is going on in their brain-feelings-body in simple terms so that as they learn/practice coping skills that help them to make sense of the reasons they got stuck in the first place - and gain insight into learning/growing from their past pain. We are fearfully and wonderfully made.

I firmly believe that no matter who you are - what your age - it is never too late to go for your dreams. You are Unique! You have Purpose! Let me help you to uncover the wonderful parts of you that have been covered by the misfortunes that inevitably occur in life.

Kim is a wonderful, compassionate counselor. She will listen to you when you just need an ear. She is a shoulder you can cry on. She is the biggest cheerleader and believes even teeny tiny steps are given praise. Without her I am not sure where I would be. She has walked with me from completely broken to strong enough I can cope with my mother having cancer and have skills I can fall back on to get me through it
I like her approach to simply things and to talk things out she approaches it as if talking and confiding in friends, I like that I am not judged but Kim makes suggestions and offers solutions and actions to get me down the path I want to go. I went to a group counseling session one time and I was immediately judged within that first session and I didn’t go back, it was not at faithful counseling and it was not Christian counseling. I like the practical steps of moving forward.
She’s a wonderful listener and provides valuable resources and insights for everything we discuss.
I'm so thankful for Kim! She's helped me believe in myself and grow into who I was always made to be!
Working with Kimberley Smith-Maxwell has been a very positive experience. She is both supportive and insightful, and is consistently available. She has been especially helpful in rephrasing to clarify and help me understand what I’m experiencing and feeling.
Kimberley has been a blessing in my life. I have done lots of counseling with psychologists, in person, and was a bit worried about online counseling as I don't usually do much online to begin with - in terms of social lifestyle. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was very much like traditional face to face counseling but with a written record that I could go back to read for encouragement and techniques. This way I don't have to book or schedule any specific time or be on call with my feelings when a traditional appointment is booked. Having a place to dump all my thoughts on and get a response within 24 - 48 hours is so helpful. It's like having an emergency counselor on call for me and has really helped me to be honest about my feelings.
Another wonderful thing about Kimberley is that she has a very personal way of relating back to what I have told her and being reflective in her response with care. I am very blessed to have found this method and Kimberley and I look forward to hearing back from her always.
I have loved emailing with Kimberley Smith-maxwell, she is so understanding and helps me deal with my anxiety. I highly recommend her.
I was so glad to have Kimberly as a counselor. I feel like she listened to everything i said, not just the big things. She sent wonderful resources and did a great job of helping me recognize and identify emotions and issues I didn't even know I was having which helped me deal with them better. I loved how she referred to God and prayer and really understood my faith and my journey with God.
