About Me

I am a licensed therapist (LPC) for the state of North Carolina, and have over five years of experience working with men, women, adolescents, and children of all ages. I counsel on variety of issues including, but not limited to, family violence, sexual assault/abuse, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, conflict resolution, multicultural issues, LGBT issues, parenting, couples counseling, and bereavement. It is my goal to provide services that will empower clients to reach their own conclusions regarding issues discussed during our counseling sessions.

I like to create a very warm and inviting experience, and approach each client with compassion, respect, and sensitivity. My approach combines different theoretical orientations such as person-centered, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, narrative, and family systems. I will adapt my counseling approach to fit your needs within our counseling sessions.

I have been a Christ follower since adolescence, and my own life experiences have led me to have a deeper understanding of God's grace and love. I am not a Christian Counselor, but I am counselor who happens to be a Christian. I graduated with my MA in Professional Counseling from an Evangelical School, and am trained to use biblical principles within session, when asked to do so by my clients. I adhere to the belief that Psychology and Theology are allies, and do not operate independently of each other within counseling. I believe that a lot what we struggle with is connected to the shame that we carry from our experiences, and I do a lot of work with clients to help them overcome their shame. I use both clinical and biblical interventions when working with clients who want a biblical approach because not all issues are spiritual issues. For example, I do not believe that people struggle from anxiety and depression simply because it is a "sin issue" as I've heard so many before me state. I believe that many issues are due to neurological, environmental, and genetic factors. When working with clients from a biblical approach, all of these factors are taken into account, and clinical, evidence based interventions are introduced along with Christian principles and values.

It takes a lot of strength and courage to reach out for help, and I am so glad you are here. I look forward to working with you!

She helped me understand a horrible situation very professionally and also with care. She helped me get my child essential help I was not sure he needed. She also helped expose very serious sexual abuse that was hidden in the church. The spiritual healing that will come out of this is priceless. I am very thankful for her help.
