About Me

Hello, my name is Mary Alice Emert. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed in the state of Pennsylvania. I earned a Bachelor degree in Sociology at University of Pittsburgh and a Master Degree in Social Work also at University of Pittsburgh. While there I earned a certificate in Child Welfare.
My experience is in individual, couples and family counseling. I have owned my own private practice for nearly 20 years in which I have been successful in helping people sort out some of their unique life challenges such as depression, anxiety, grief, relationships, parenting issues and many others.
I believe in treating my clients with genuine care, compassion and respect. I do this utilizing my faith in Jesus Christ and a mix of cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, insight oriented therapy, structural therapy and others. While the details of your unique situation may be different than others, I assure you I will do my very best to help you find comfort and peace in your life situation.
While it is a difficult decision to reach out for help, that is the biggest step toward attaining your treatment goals. Having taken that step we can begin to develop a strong therapeutic relationship. We will begin that relationship by building trust in the fact that our work together will be completely confidential and professional as well as competent. My compassion for others, my professional experience and life experience has provided me with the tools necessary to help meet your expectations. God said in Jeremiah 29:11 " For I know the plans I have for you...plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. I do look forward to working with you.

Mary Alice is a great counselor and very wise. She takes time to listen but also gives very good advice and has helped me navigate some of of my anxieties. Although she may not be holding my hand through life, I’m confident that with the tools she gave me that I can live life more fully and without much worry. She helped me realize that anxiety is not always a bad thing. I like that she is a believer and has used some biblical principles to counsel me.
