Greetings! I am Lynn and am a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor, certified in telemental health. I also have a Masters of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University. In the counseling profession, I have 10 years of experience working with people from 3 -90 years old. With such a wide age range, I have encountered a variety of issues from depression, anxiety , trauma, grief, relationship issues, ADHD, as well as coping with developmental disabilities, to name a few. Before continuing my education, I was on church staff for 8 years, with a focus on children, youth and older adults. Throughout my careers, I have valued the difficulty of sometimes reconciling our life issues with our spirituality. I believe that being able to explore our lives in view of our faith in a nonjudgmental, accepting environment is what our faith calls us to do.
Whatever brings you here, I believe that with the right tools and roadmap, people can overcome obstacles to successful living and begin to live the life that brings them fulfillment. I believe that the therapeutic process is a collaborative effort built through an authentic and trusting relationship. That is what drives my style of warm honesty and compassionate regard for individual struggles while seeking the most effective strategies for you, as an individual. When appropriate, I do like to bring humor to the process. A good smile or laugh at ourselves can sometimes bring much healing.
People are my heart and lifework. I consider it an honor to partner with people in their pain and difficulties and see the process of successful internal resolutions come to life! I consider it a privilege to collaborate with others, helping to empower them to become the best God created them to be!

I have enjoyed my experience with my counselor. I feel very confident that she is working to help me live a healthy life working on the skills she has taught me.
Mary Lynn is intelligent, warm, perceptive, and very comfortable to talk with.
I find her a comfort and an inspiration. I thank God that I was matched up with the perfect counselor for me!
Lynn is so passionate about what she does, it makes barriers fall and walls crumble. As a woman of color, you wonder if you'll get what you need from a therapist that's not of your ethnicity. Lynn is one of a kind, and I'm grateful to THE MOST HIGH for bringing her in to my life.
Cannot say enough good things about Mary Lynn Smith, even after only having 3 sessions with her! I highly recommend her!
Mary Lynn Smith has been very flexible and she always checks in with me and asks for updates on some new processes we have discussed. Great counselor!
