About Me

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California with over 10 years of experience working as a Biblical counselor, mental health counselor, and a psychotherapist. I have worked in the secular community, but I truly believe God gave me the desire to counsel others. I have given myself over to him as a vessel in which he may use to help you tap into the healing power of Christ and the Holy Spirit that lives inside of you. Although I comfortable doing therapy with people from different walks of life with views opposing the traditional Bible interpretations, my doctrine is soundly Biblical I draw from original Hebrew, Greek, and Latin translations such as the NIV/NKJV/NASB/NLT/HCB/ESV, etc., non-denominational, and not progressive in nature.

I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including guilt, shame, anxiety, depression, abuse and trauma, bipolar disorders, PTSD, AD/HD, and schizophrenia. During this time, I have helped people with grief and loss issues, life transitions, relationship roles, and learning coping and social skills in general. I have assisted Christians of Catholic, Protestant, and non-denominational belief systems.

I have assisted clients in learning how to manage their emotions and adopt healthier attitudes and strengthen their Christian lifestyles. As a therapist I have taught clients how to set goals, learn problem-solving skills, assertiveness and communication skills, as well as conflict-resolutions skills to assist them with their relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, educational difficulties, issues with self-care, and motivation to complete activities associated with daily living within a Biblical Christian context.

My counseling style is genuine, nurturing, and encouraging, kind of like a fun-loving aunt. I believe that you are the expert in your life and you deserve to be treated with respect, be treated with empathy, and be understood as you unpack and explore difficulties and distressing feelings. My approach combines interventions and therapy styles from Cognitive-Behavioral type therapies, Humanistic/Existential type therapies, and Psychodynamic/Attachment theories. However, I do not subscribe to the gnostic, atheist, or any anti-Christian beliefs or sentiments that may arise from any of these theoretical orientations. I adapt them to fit with the Bible and strengthen what the Bible teaches. I will collaborate with you, coach you, actively listen to you, cheer you, pray with you, and celebrate with you as we develop your treatment goals and the skills needed to help you to achieve wellness and discipleship with your LORD as the head of your life!

It can be hard to look at our lives and see any positives at times. Talking to a counselor or therapist is one of many powerful and impactful steps you can take to start a journey that can potentially help you become a better version of yourself. Just imagine what life would be like if you could decrease the amount of time you felt sad or worried by learning how your human mind works and how to apply God’s Word to your life to heal psychological wounds! Imagine the grace you would know if you could learn skills that would improve your compassion toward others or be able to respectfully say "no". Wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to change negative attitudes when you are enduring trials and stop questioning your salvation or God’s will for your life? It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life in Christ, especially if those around us and in the Church are toxic or have their own struggles. You are brave, you are precious, you are cherished, and you deserve mental health. If you are ready to take this journey, I am here to help you discover that through Christ you can do all things even in times of spiritual and emotional warfare.

*Proverbs 15:22 (ESV) Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.
*Galatians 6:2 (ESV) Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
*2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV)All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
*Proverbs 11:14 (ESV) Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

I look forward to working with you!

Natalie has been absolutely awesome. Her biblical principles and strong faith is what separates her from other counselors I’ve had. She genuinely cares about you and you feel it. It’s hard to establish a report over electronic mediums but she bridges the gap and makes you feel comfortable. I’d highly recommend her!

Mrs. McBroom is very patient and understanding when it comes to the things I've struggled with, and has wisdom and personal experience to offer. I appreciate her willingness to discuss my many questions, and more importantly the fact that she is a joyful servant of Christ. She's been helpful with my psychological issues and encouraging with my spiritual issues.

The difference I found it in Natalie is that she shared herself, and did so honestly which I found very helpful. Of course everyone has their own style, but I truly appreciated it and found it to be a stark contrast to the usually tight-lipped therapist I had met in the past. Natalie truly engages with me, and has proactive ideas not just open ended questions. It's quite evident that this is her calling! Fair and balanced, well-rounded. Thanks Natalie!
