Rich Painter

(M.S., LMFT)

About Me

Rich Painter, M.S., LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist by the state of Florida. He draws on the insights of psychological theory as well as spiritual resources for healing. He believes that by exploring unmet needs from the past, people can develop healthier relationships today. By working through painful losses and wounds, people can release unhelpful beliefs about themselves and others in order to live more fully in the present and with hope for the future. We are hurt in relationships; we are also healed in relationship, and the therapeutic relationship can be a useful resource. Areas of focus include couple, marital, and singlehood issues, family/parenting dynamics and attachment, anxiety, depression, adolescents and young adults, career direction, abuse and trauma, spiritual growth and struggles, gender and sexuality issues, loss and grief, and pornography/addictions. He is a certified Prepare-Enrich Counselor and offers pre-engagement, pre-marital and marital couples counseling, and he is also a certified Family Wellness Instructor. He is a professional member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy as well as the American Association of Christian Counselors.

Rich holds a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary and brings an extensive history of experience in spiritually based healing ministry. With over seventeen years of church ministry experience, he has a unique understanding of the needs of families. He also has experience as a youth pastor and teacher and enjoys working with adolescents and young adults in issues relating to identity and spiritual development. He has been married to his wife for over sixteen years and enjoys being a father. Together with his wife, he has led numerous small groups and served on prayer ministry and leadership discernment teams for a number of churches and Christian organizations. This background has given him additional sensitivity to the stresses and demands on those who serve in ministry as well as an ability to work with people who have suffered from spiritual abuse and negative church experiences. Rich’s desire is to partner with Jesus as He binds up the broken-hearted and sets the captives free to love (Luke 4:18). He is grateful for God’s passionate pursuit in his life, and he loves to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space for people to develop a sense of connectedness and discover greater fulfillment in their relationships.

Rich is an excellent counselor. Through around 4 months, he taught me tools to help cope with my stress and my family issues. I am thankful that God brought him into my life during this time and he will continue to be my go to counselor when I need help with Gods word. I can not recommend him enough. God Bless

I appreciate Rich’s patience and desire to understand. He is really willing to listen and allow you to express yourself and determine where you are most comfortable. Rich is very encouraging as well. So far it has been pretty good having Rich as my online therapist.

Rich has this calming and supportive way about him that is comforting. When I talk to him I am able to relax and just talk and when the call is done I feel like I’ve taken a step forward. He is always engaged in what I’m saying and directs the conversation to positive and uplifting thoughts and solutions.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have made it possible to receive counseling from trained professionals at a more frugal cost and from the comfort of our homes. Rich Painter is everything I could have asked for as a counselor: He is filled with the Word of God, knows how to assess my needs and concerns, and is always respectful, attentive and caring. I can always count on him to be punctual, and provide me with practical steps/tools to fight the 'dark clouds'. May God continue to use this man to bless others.
