Shellany Cushner

About me

I am so glad you are taking the time to read my introduction. I grew up in a Christian family and went to Christian private schools. While it has not always been an easy path for me being a Christian and adhering to good morals and principles, I continue to pray everyday for God’s guidance and wisdom in my life. My father’s and mother’s guidance growing up was to serve God first and the rest will take care of itself. I think of God’s guidance and wisdom in my life as hand in hand. Psalm 37:24 (NCV) “If they stumble, they will not fall, because the Lord holds their hand. I have worked with Christian families and individuals throughout my career from different denominations in public service over the past 15 years. I understand the importance of connecting with a therapist who shares Christian beliefs and morals.

I am a Licensed psychotherapist, in the State of Oregon. I graduated from the University of Nevada in 1999 with my Master’s Degree specializing in behavioral and cognitive therapy. I started practicing in Orange County California and moved back to my home state of Oregon in 2003. I have over 15 years of experience working as a clinical psychotherapist and I took a short sabbatical to care for my family. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, career challenges, grief, pain management, sleeping difficulties, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I have also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. I have treated people with Addiction Difficulties in outpatient and inpatient settings.

My therapy style is caring and empathic with strong commitment to letting everyone have a voice. I believe in treating everyone of my clients with respect, sensitivity, awareness, and compassion. I want to help you break free from stigmatizing labels and judgement. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. I make my treatment planning fit my clients’ individual needs with respect and dignity to meet your unique and specific needs. I have a strong commitment to everyone’s spiritual needs and personal identity with God’s grace. I believe we are spiritual beings looking to fulfill our commitment here on earth.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life, and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you, with the Lord at the center of treatment.

I look forward to working with you!

I have had only one video session with my therapist so far, but it was very helpful.
