My background is rather unique. I earned a PhD in general psychology in 1998 and did 4 years of postdoctoral work in the neuroendocrinology of motivation, obesity and addictions. I have a long history of psychological research, but decided to begin clinical work and am now an LPCC with supervisor designation. On a personal level, I became an agnostic Buddhist after wrongly believing that science and faith were incompatible. After giving up my demand for “proof” before faith, I have been a believing Christian since 2010. I enjoy sharing this story with clients who want to know or who also struggle with their own beliefs.
Currently, I provide general mental health counseling for a variety or concerns. I also have specialities in behavioral health for obesity, diabetes, binge eating and overeating, weight loss and bariatric surgery. I am blessed to work with Christian clients and incorporate their faith into the counseling process.
I also enjoy reading, current events, volunteer church service, science, and camping.
I look forward to meeting my clients and working collaboratively to find the most effective ways to help them be their best mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Dr.Benoit is my first therapist/counselor and as someone who was nervous about therapy, I am very happy with Dr. Benoit. I could not have asked for a better introduction to counseling.
