About Me

Hello! I have been a North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor since 2006. I have particular interest in facilitating personal change and promoting effective communication. I bring to my counseling practice many years of life experience. I respect personal beliefs in regards to faith, religion, and spirituality. I encourage self-sufficiency and personal strength. I promote purpose, intentionality, and kindness.

My journey to become a therapist began with a Christian women's retreat group in 1989. Over the following 15 years I encouraged women to access the strength of their faith to overcome negativity and problematic relationships. I entered graduate school to become a licensed therapist so that I could make counseling a career.

Counseling can help you understand why you do what you do. It is a safe place to honestly explore emotions of anger, anxiety, sadness, and worry. Counseling can help you learn how to effectively influence others by changing how you respond to their troubling behaviors. It is a place to learn coping skills, improve self-esteem, discover your life purpose, to practice new behaviors, identify and establish appropriate boundaries, and develop kindness and self-reliance.

My goal is for you to overcome the difficulties that brought you to therapy sooner rather than later. In order to determine your success in treatment, at the beginning of each session I will ask you to complete a rating scale of how you are functioning. This information will be compared over time. If we find that you are not making progress towards your goals we will redesign the treatment plan, goals, and methods and consider changes to our process.

I look forward to providing you with support and encouragement on your journey towards being the best possible version of yourself.

Thea was kind, patient and professional throughout our conversations over chat & over the phone. She was able to guide me through my thinking process well, and I appreciated the time that she put into helping me. I would definitely recommend her for others like me.
